Machinima is the use of real-time computer graphics engines, such as virtual worlds or video games, to create an animated cinematic production. We often prefer the term “screen capture video,” as most of our video content – voices, sets, avatars, music, animations – is original.

Avatar Repertory Theater started its expansion into video production in 2014 with pre-production of “Flying Saucers Return,” from an original script that developed out of script writing workshops run by Selby Evans in 2013. Projects currently in development are “Jim Comes to Tea,” adapted from a short story by Iain McCracken, and an adaptation of “Mr. Spaceship” by Philip K. Dick, which we also read live last year to test the script. We also plan to screen capture all of our live shows and workshops from now on, for teaching and demonstration purposes.
